Last January, ZTE has announced that they will unveil a smartphone with Nvidia’s Tegra 4 processor this year. This processor is based on ARM’s Cortex-A15 and so far only some tablets have this processor with no phone using int. According to the latest reports, ZTE is preparing to launch the ZTE U988S which is supposed to be first smartphone with Tegra 4 processor.

ZTE has started handing out some units to Chinese media for review. Usually this means that device is going to be released soon. ZTE also revealed the price of the device – 1,999 Yuan, which is about $326.

The specifications of this device are pretty interesting, especially when you look at the price tag: 1.8GHz quad core processor, 2Gb of RAM, 5-inch display with 1280×720 resolution, 8MP rear camera, front camera, Android 4.2.1 Jelly Bean. As you can see, ZTE U988S has high-end specifications for mid-range price.

Tegra 4 chip has great features – Nvidia GPU with up to 72 cores, quad core ARM processor, variable SMP (all four cores can be used at their maximum when needed) and Nvidia i500 LTE modem. At this moment, it is known that this smartphone will work on China Mobile’s TD-SCDMA network and there are no official information when will a model be available that can be used on international market.
