T-Mobile’s Chief Technology Officer, Neville Ray recently made some comments regarding the iPhone which were misinterpreted as if he knew some extra information regarding Apple’s next version of their famous smartphone. The comments were surrounding the iPhone’s chipset being able to support AWS which would make it compatible with T-Mobile’s 3G and 4G networks, eliminating the reason that it’s not available on their network. T-Mobile released a statement yesterday clarifying the comment as a general statement applying to all phone manufactures, and not one intended solely focused on Apple. However they did state that their “position on the iPhone has not changed”, in other words that they would welcome the famous smartphone with arms wide open. The decision however is Apple’s to make. Time will tell if the iPhone finally comes to T-Mobile, which is the only one of the big four U.S carriers not to feature the device.
Would the iPhone coming to T-Mobile sway you to change carriers? If you’re already on T-Mobile, would you ditch your current phone in favor of Apple’s offering? Share your thoughts with us in the comments below.
