Samsung will reportedly not upgrade their original Galaxy S series and Galaxy Tab device to Android 4.0. The original Galaxy S series premiered in 2010 overseas and eventually made its way to the States on Sprint, Verizon, T-Mobile, and AT&T as well as a number of smaller carriers in different forms. But, it appears that none of these devices will receive an Ice Cream Sandwich upgrade, stopping their update life cycles at Gingerbread.

The company blames the amount of RAM and ROM for the move, saying that TouchWiz will inhibit device performance if upgraded to Android 4.0. Of course, Google’s Nexus S is already receiving the update, and includes the same internal RAM, ROM, and processor combination as the Galaxy S phones. According to Samsung, the difference is that the Nexus S runs a purely stock version of Android. With TouchWiz, the Galaxy S devices will not be able to run smoothly. Of course, they’re biting themselves in the butt by acknowledging that TouchWiz actually slows down device performance.

Galaxy S users: did you expect this move?

Wat would u expect? If they didnt even update the galaxy s 1 from touchwiz 3.0 to touchwiz 4.0 why would they update them to android 4.0??? They didnt even want to update them to android 2.2 after promising to do so. I bet they also bet not upgrading touchwiz becuase of the ram and rom too. But look up the samsung galaxy w or the samsung exhibit 2 4g. They both have single core processors aswell with 512 mb of ram. But they are both running touchwiz 4.0…. Makes u wonder…

But, will they be getting ICS with TouchWiz 4.0? That’s the question you have to ask.
