Samsung: No Mobile World Congress Announcement for Galaxy S III

Samsung has confirmed only one of the Samsung Galaxy S III release date rumors of late— the one that says the device will be a no-show at February’s Mobile World Congress convention in Barcelona. According to TechRadar, the successor of the popular Galaxy S II series will be shown off “at a separate Samsung-hosted event in the first half of the year, closer to commercial availability of the product.”

This lines right up with what the earlier rumors said about announcing the phone at a time that will be closer to the product’s launch in the United States and abroad, which means we could see a near-simultaneous release for the flagship handset. Although, it’s still entirely possible that the device could be announced in the first or second quarters of 2012 and then see a third quarter release on American shores, as Samsung launches of the past have seen considerable delays prior to entry in the States.
