Samsung has been working up a storm with their latest superphone. The phone, which features the brilliant 4-inch Samsung-Intrinsity made Super AMOLED screen, is said to debut on June 29th. The company has sent out promo emails asking readers to “Save the Date.” The Samsung flier, below, says the phone will be announced on June 29th at 6:00 pm EST in New York City.

But, the real concern here is that BoyGeniusReport had previously pinned the phone’s release on T-Mobile to June 21st. And, TMoNews claimed the 21st launch date as well. Even Engadget says the 21st date lines up with “chatter” they’ve been hearing. But the 21st date certainly doesn’t line up with the email from Samsung’s own Mobile division. Of course, you can take mobile rumor blogs with a grain of salt. But, we’d like to think Samsung itself is the most trusted source on this one.

Of course, the real issue remains: what carrier will be getting its hands on this phone? T-Mobile USA is all but confirmed. But, the phone is an international phone. Some speculate that it will be available on all major carriers by the end of 2010. AT&T is at the top of the list behind T-Mobile. The FCC has already confirmed a filing by Samsung for the Galaxy S on AT&T’s 3G bands. But, new word from user bill23 at Howard Forums suggests a possible CDMA release of the Galaxy S on none other than Verizon Wireless. This would be the fourth major Android superphone on Verizon this year, so we’re not sure how reliable the information is.

Samsung invites everyone to subscribe to their email list to get more updates on the Galaxy S. You can find the form on their Galaxy S website.

Customers who purchase the Galaxy S will be getting a rock-solid Samsung-Intrinsity made Humminbird processor, which is similar to the Apple A4, but with a better GPU. That’s right, this baby will be more powerful than the iPhone 4 and iPad.

The specifications of the phone include: front-facing camera, 5 megapixel rear camera, Super AMOLED display (4-inches), GPS, accelerometer, proximity sensor, 8/16 GB of internal storage, Android 2.1 Eclair, and 720p video recording. Now, Samsung has promised a Froyo upgrade for this device, but after the Samsung Behold II fiasco, who knows how much we can trust them to follow through on that. The software on the Galaxy S sports TouchWiz 3.0, called SmartLife, which is a fairly well-reviewed add-on to Android’s stock 2.1 OS.
