New Captivate Firmware Leaks (JH7)

Filed under News by Kenneth Pennington on September 12, 2010 at 1:47 AM

A brand new firmware for the AT&T Samsung Captivate leaked, prompting Captivate developers and testers to jump for joy. The new firmware brings even further stability and improvements to the Galaxy S device. Compared to the stock firmware that comes on the Captivate out-of-box, this latest leak is far faster and improved. Lagging and stalling seems a lot less prevalent, and the GPS is much improved. Most are able to see stable and consistent satellite locks outside.

The firmware is titled JH7 indicating it was in fact built late in August, which means Samsung’s development team should be currently digging further into updated Captivate builds including Android 2.2 Froyo. JH7 is still in Android 2.1 Eclair build, but it will probably be the last (if not, second to last) leaked Eclair build as Samsung makes the September-October Android 2.2 update a priority.

You can download the leaked build at SamFirmware.com. Instructions on how to flash the firmware can be found at XDA-Developers forum.
