Motorola used to be a choice OEM for developers back in the days of the original unlocked Motorola Droid on Verizon. But, over the past few years, the company’s fallen behind in the developer world as they’ve ceded to carrier demands for locked bootloaders. Now, Motorola is looking to regain their elite status with developers by offering unlockable bootloaders via an internet website, just like HTC’s HTC-Dev unlock site.

We’re still not sure which devices this applies to, because the Motorola website is non-specific. But, we do know that the brand new Motorola Photon Q on Sprint comes with an unlockable bootloader. Other than that, individuals will have to test things out. Let us know if you were able to unlock. If not, what error did you receive?

Update: Supposedly, only the Motorola Photon Q is supported at this time.

Update #2: Add the Motorola XOOM and RAZR Developer Edition to that supported list.
