Motorola Atrix 3 Rumor Isn’t Real, We Wish It Was

Today, the blogosphere lit up with rumors of a Motorola Atrix 3. The rumors reported a device with NVIDIA’s Tegra 3 SoC, a massive 3,300 mAh battery, 720p display, Android 4.0, and 2 GB of RAM. Unfortunately, it appears these rumors originated on one of my favorite concept phone sites. The likelihood of the device being completely legitimate is very slim, considering the rumor’s origin on Concept-Phones.

Having said that, the image doesn’t look at all like a concept phone. Most concept designs are rendered, sharp, and clear. But, this Atrix 3 shot looks like the real deal. I have no doubt that this is an actual device pictured. But, the Motorola logo seems painted on with Photoshop. If you’ll notice (see the picture below), the Motorola text isn’t actually centered correctly on the device. Now, would Moto really make a mistake that big?

If anything else will put the nail in this rumor’s coffin, it’s the fact that Bob Freking (the creator of this image) has created many smartphone concepts before this one. See his Galaxy S III, Galaxy Tab 11.6, iPad 3, and ASUS Eee Pad Nexus.

Even with all of this, if it’s got a locked bootloader, i’m out.

You pulled a miracle to unlock our bootloader, and i’m sure that the OG Atrix will outlive the Atrix 2, but still, it was a rare shot.

Too bad it’s fake. If it was real, that logo’s position may have been a new design? Like the the logo at the bottom is moved a bit and on the side with more space they put the camera and proximity sensor there.

I doubt that very seriously. But that would actually be a cool idea, considering the front facing camera up top is actually an awkward placement for video chatting. It means you’re looking at the top of your device instead of straight at your recipient. I guess the same could be said down below.

Yes it certainly was a miracle. I don’t expect it to happen again.

Kenneth – I love your work. Since I saw your post, I figured id take the opportunity to ask:

    Any success with HDMI mirroring?

Any hopes of OCD or pseudo -ICS?
