Amazon’s Kindle Fire will receive an over-the-air update within two weeks guaranteed to improve performance and touchscreen navigation. But, that’s not stopping external developers from improving the device on their own. One developer,¬†DooMLoRD, has created a custom kernel for the Fire that overclocks the device’s dual-core CPU from 1 GHz to 1.5 GHz. The same kernel also overclock’s the included GPU to 384 MHz.
