exolife™ iPhone 4 Case Review
Filed under Reviews by Kenneth Pennington on September 27, 2010 at 5:28 PMEdit: EXOGEAR™ has just written to let users know that the exolife iPhone 4 Case does not suffer from glass damage that other cases made by alternate manufacturers may suffer from! Good news indeed!
The folks over at EXOGEAR™ have been at work creating an iPhone 4 case that doubles your Apple iPhone 4′s battery life while providing protection for your device. All that hard work has paid off with the company’s latest case– the exolife™ iPhone 4 case. We’ve tested out the case and we’ll give you a walkthrough and review of the features below.
ExoClear
The exolife™ case for the Apple iPhone 4 features a tightly contstructed poly-carbonate frame that gets rid of your iPhone 4 death grip problem. Have no fear, you won’t be dropping to zero bars with this case around your device.
ExoSync
You can sync up your iPhone 4 device flawlessly with iTunes via the onboard mini-USB connection. No need to take your case off when syncing up your apps, movies, TV shows, and songs.
ExoSave
The main feature of this case is it’s 1500 mAh Lithium-ion polymer battery that has enough power to double your iPhone 4′s battery life. We’ve tested this with the Apple iPhone 4, and the case does in fact extend your battery about twice as long as the stock battery. Plus, the battery features this little thing the EXOGEAR team has dubbed “ExoSave.” With ExoSave, your iPhone 4 case intelligently powers down when not in use, so your battery isn’t wasting away while your phone is sitting there on standby mode.
Exolife Battery Meter
This is the most convenient addition on the exolife™ case. The back of your iPhone 4 now has an illuminated blue battery meter that allows you to check battery life and see the device charging.
How does it work?
In our testing of the brand new exolife™ case from EXOGEAR, we concluded that the case did in fact perform its job. It nearly doubled the battery life of our device, and it looked good while doing it. The case is very thin at 2.44 x 5.1 x .59 inches. The back of the exolife™ is sleek, glossy, and curved for a nice minimalistic-like look with a good grip in-hand.
All of the ports matched up to their slots on the case easily, and we’d never have a problem using the hold toggle, headphone jack, or volume buttons. The mini-USB port is covered by a rubber plug, which we found to awkwardly not rotate. But that wasn’t a major bother. The back and sides of your iPhone 4 are well protected with this case. As with most covers, don’t expect much protection for the front of your iPhone 4.
We liked that the case’s bumper was switchable. Both blue and clear-black bumpers were given to us for review. They both looked excellent on our iPhone. You can get a white or black backing and green, blue, or clear-black bumpers from the EXOGEAR™ website.
Although the microphone was covered by the case, we did not hear any loss in voice quality. In fact, the folks at EXOGEAR™ say that the case’s front firing ports actually redirect and enhance the sound.
The case is priced at $89.95 retail value on www.exogear.com. Not a bad price to pay for doubled battery, death grip resolution, and drop protection on your iPhone 4.
Overall, this case looks like an excellent buy for your iPhone 4. The battery meter on the back is a killer feature, and it certainly looks sexy.
