Development Of Popular Twitter Client Boid To Cease

It was announced today that development of the popular Android Twitter client Boid will soon come to an end. Graham Macphee, one of the members of Team Boid, took to his personal blog to break the news. Macphee says that when he and his team created Boid, its goal was to set an example as to how a Twitter client should look and be developed. However, Boid caught on and was instantly popular due to it’s clean, sleek design. It was one of the first apps to be based entirely on Google’s holo design guidelines. Macphee and team believe that they have met their goal, even though the app never left beta and never will, as development will stop.
No reason for ceasing development was given, aside from the fact that the team feels its design has “inspired” other developers. It could be that the team simply does not want to deal with Twitter’s increasingly strict guidelines and parameters for clients. You also have to keep in mind that most of the members of Team Boid are high school and college students, so it could be that they simply have no time to work on the app.
Macphee noted that his post is not an official statement from Team Boid, which will be coming in a couple of days.
