When you think of rooting a device, the first thing that comes to mind is CyanogenMod. CyanogenMod was the first custom ROM to have a huge amount of success. It has grown to be a community based ROM that supports a plethora of devices, which as you would expect, has led to it being crazy popular.

On Monday, it was announced that CyanogenMod has been downloaded and installed more than 5 million times. To think that an unofficial ROM that you have to install yourself has been installed that many times is pretty stunning. It shows that Android has a huge development and modder community, that as Verizon has learned, you do not want to make angry.

Do you use CyanogenMod? Let us know down in the comments!
