Apple Working on Dedicated Podcast App for iOS

Podcasts are slowly becoming more mainstream, and as they do, Apple is looking for a way to make them a bigger part of iOS. According to a new report, a forthcoming version of iOS will feature a dedicated podcast app. Currently, podcasts in iOS are like music. You download them in the iTunes app and listen to them in the Music app. With the dedicated podcast app, users will be able to subscribe, download, and listen in the same app. AllThingsD reports that everything will stay in iTunes on the desktop, even with the Mac App Store launch.
AppAdvice is also reporting that iOS 6 has no references to podcasts, iTunes U, or audiobooks, which supports the rumor that Apple is working on dedicated apps.
