Apple iPhone 4S
Apple took the stage today to announce their first FY2012 results. Turns out, the company broke many of their internal records, wowing Wall Street with a $13.06 billion net income, up 118% on FY2011 Q4. One of the largest contributors to those record breaking numbers was the Apple iPhone 4S, which led the way in sales. Apple’s Tim Cook reported an astonishing 37.04 million iPhone sales between October and December.
The Cupertino-based company will end its quarter with a massive cash balance of $97.6 billion. Over all, including the iPad and iPod Touch, Apple sold over 62 million iOS-running devices in the quarter. That should bolster Apple in what Cook calls a “close race” between Android and iOS. He was quick to quote ComScore’s stats on the matter. He still wasn’t ready to brush off Microsoft’s efforts with Windows Phone 7, as he said “there’s a horse in Redmond that always suits up and always runs.”
With 37.04 million iPhone sales, Apple easily took 2011′s record for most units sold of an individual device.
