Amazon to Drop Kindle Fire Price to $149

Amazon’s main selling point of the Kindle Fire was the low price-point, and if a new report is correct, the tablet will be getting even cheaper. DigiTimes is reporting that the price of the Fire will be dropping to $149 because new Kindle Fire tablets are on the way. The new 7-inch tablet will be a lot like the original, but will have a display with a 1280×800 display. DigiTimes also claims that Amazon has halted production of its rumored 8.9-inch tablet in order to focus on a 10.1-inch model.
The Kindle Fire originally looked like the first true iPad competitor, but demand for the device has dropped considerably since the holiday season came to an end and the Nook Tablet launched.
