Jump past the break as we put this game through its paces and try to save our ice cream cones from the Hungry MonstRs!

Our Thoughts

Hungry MonstR is an extremely innovative game. Your task is to defend an ice cream stand from a swarm of four different types of MonstR. In order to defend the cones, you must flick the MonstRs into the appropriately colored chutes in the corners of the screen. Flicking a MonstR in the wrong direction will temporarily clog the chute. There are two different game modes—Endless Rainbow, where you defend your ice cream base until three cones are stolen, and MonstR Frenzy, where you survive three minute-long waves.

The graphics and sounds of Hungry MonstR are superb. Unfortunately, the controls leave a little to be desired. While the control scheme works well in concept, the game’s touch sensitivity hinders the overall experience. This is most noticeable when there are many MonstRs on screen and you must make many quick and precise flicks. While the issue isn’t a deal-breaker, it is frustrating on this reviewer’s Nexus S, XOOM, and Galaxy Tab 10.1.

Worth Your Time?

Hungry MonstR is definitely worth your time. Although we faced a somewhat frustrating touch screen issue, the game play is innovative and unique enough to make this game a must-have. However, we do hope that the next revision fixes the touch screen issues.
