Only three days prior to Sprint’s mega-launch of the HTC EVO 4G handset, Clearwire has announced the launch of 4G WiMAX in Washington, D.C. and Kansas City. Clear also announced an expansion of 4G service in Baltimore. So, those east coasters wanting to get their hands on the latest and greatest handset can confidently pick up an HTC EVO 4G with the knowledge that they’ll be covered with 4G, at least in some areas. The coverage area is highlighted in Clear’s press release:

Within this central D.C. area, CLEAR covers nearly 1 million people in communities as far north as Chevy Chase and Silver Spring MD, south to Alexandria VA, west to Falls Church, VA, and east to College Park MD. A detailed coverage map of today’s service area is available at www.clear.com\coverage.

Good luck to those of you who take the extra $30 per month plunge on Sprint with the EVO 4G! You can boast to all your iPhone-toting friends about your superior mobile web speeds.
